Klondike Solitaire

Klondike Solitaire is the seven-column patience game everyone knows, rebuilt as a level campaign. Instead of an all-or-nothing grind, each of the 200 deals gives you a concrete objective — bank a certain number of cards on the foundations — and a move budget that counts down with every play, draw and redeal. Because roughly 18% of randomly dealt Klondike games are mathematically impossible, every deal here was run through an offline solver first: if it shipped, a winning line exists within the budget.

Moment to moment it plays fast. Tapping a face-up card fires a smart move that prefers the foundations, then the best tableau spot; dragging lifts a card plus everything stacked on it as one run, so you can place sequences precisely. Each deal comes with one free hint and one free undo, and when only safe plays remain an auto-finish button appears to bank the endgame for you. A daily deal — the same vetted game for every player worldwide — keeps a streak counter ticking on the menu.

The campaign ramps along two axes at once: the foundation goal grows from just 6 cards in the opening deals to a full 52-card clear at the top end, while the budget's slack tightens underneath you. The first fifty levels are all draw-1; draw-3 deals start appearing around level 60 and dominate the expert stretch. A typical deal takes two to five minutes, and your level position is remembered between visits.

How to play Klondike Solitaire

Each deal pairs the classic seven-column Klondike spread with a foundation goal and a move budget shown in the HUD.

  1. Tap the face-down stock pile to draw a card; when the stock runs out, tap the recycle arrows to turn the waste pile over and go again (redeals are unlimited, but each costs budget).
  2. Move cards between the seven tableau columns in descending rank and alternating colors — a red 7 goes on a black 8.
  3. Tap any face-up card to auto-move it to its best legal home, foundations first; if there's no legal move it just wobbles.
  4. Drag a face-up card when you want to choose the destination yourself — every card stacked on top of it comes along as a single run.
  5. Only a King (or a run starting with one) can be placed on an empty column.
  6. Bank the required number of cards on the four Ace-to-King foundations before the move counter reaches zero.

Tips and strategy

  • Flipping face-down cards is worth more than almost any other play — favor moves that expose a hidden card, and dig at the tallest columns first.
  • Every draw and every redeal spends budget, so cycle the stock deliberately: note which waste cards you actually need before paying for another pass.
  • Don't vacate a tableau column unless a King is ready to take the space — an empty column you can't fill is wasted moves.
  • Send Aces and Deuces home on sight; with a foundation goal to hit, banked cards are pure progress. Think twice only about mid-rank cards you may still need to hold a tableau sequence together.
  • The tap auto-move prefers foundations — when a card needs to stay in play for a build, drag it to the tableau yourself so the auto-mover doesn't bank it early.
  • Save your free hint and undo for the late deal, when one misread run can strand a buried card for good.

Frequently asked questions

Is every deal actually winnable?

Yes. Around 18% of random Klondike deals can never be won, so each of the 200 deals here was checked by a solver that found a complete winning line within the move budget before the deal was allowed to ship.

What happens when the move budget runs out?

The deal ends and you can retry it immediately. If you hit the foundation goal on the very move that empties the budget, that still counts as a win.

What should I do when I'm stuck?

Try the hint button first — it shows a legal move you may have missed. The undo takes back your last play, and recycling the stock often reopens a line at the cost of some budget.

Does my progress save?

Your current level, best scores and daily-deal streak are kept in your browser's local storage, so they persist between visits on the same device and browser.

How is the daily deal chosen?

It's picked from the 200 vetted deals using the calendar date as the seed, so everyone in the world plays the same solvable deal on the same day. Winning it extends your streak.

Can I play with touch and with a mouse?

Yes — the whole game is tap-and-drag, which maps to a finger on phones and tablets and to click-and-drag on a desktop, where the table also widens to fill the window.
